Food is a vital aspect of the most effective way to lose weight. You have the potential to take in more calories in 10 minutes than you can burn off in the same amount of time. It only makes sense that you would want to put most of your focus on eating right if weight loss is your goal.
Eating food that is as close to its natural state as possible is a good rule of thumb that will help to melt those pounds away. For example, a roasted ear of corn rubbed with spices contains fewer calories than a bag of deep-fried corn chips; not to mention that the ear of corn is much more nutritious. Keep this in mind when shopping for groceries, that way you will have healthier foods on hand when you get hungry at home.
Another general rule is to eat a wide variety of foods. While it may be possible to lose weight on restrictive diets, they are hard to stick with and could rob your body of the essential nutrients it needs. Eating healthy foods from all of the food groups is the best way to go, and ensures you’re getting the good stuff.
Exercise is the other main part of a good weight loss program. Your body burns calories when it’s in motion. You can go to the gym, follow a routine on an exercise DVD, go bowling, walk, run, swim, lift weights, dance, play catch, fly a kite, or anything else for that matter. The main thing is that you enjoy whatever it is that you’re doing. That way it won’t feel like work and you’ll be more likely to keep doing it.
